After a dreary winter, it’s finally spring. The sun is shining and the weather is crisp. It’s time to take the kids on an excursion – somewhere they can play and just be kids. Following last week’s Best of BubbleLife survey, we have a list of places to take kids (pets, too). And some of these outings are free and local to your neighborhood!

Celebration Park in Allen

This park is a kid’s wonderland, featuring an “enormous KidMania community-built playground” and sprayground that opens later this season. Celebration Park also provides plenty of facilities for adults, including hiking and biking trails and lighted tennis courts.

Dove Park in Grapevine

Established in 1970, this free facility has everything your family needs: a swimming pool, sports courts, play structure and walking trail. The Dove Waterpark ($2 for residents; $5 for non-residents) and Dove Park Sprayground (free) will open in the summer.

Community Center in McKinney (Kindermusik classes)

At the city’s community center, you’ll find Kindermusik, a premier music and movement program. These classes foster a life-long love of music among children, as well as teach them to dance, sing and play. Love & Grow Music Studio also offers Kindermusik classes in Allen and Murphy.

Caruth Park in the Park Cities

This area has no shortage of beautiful parks, but there’s something special about Caruth Park. Children can fish in the pond, which is full of bluegill, catfish and bass. Kids are also encouraged to play on one of the two playgrounds and enjoy lunch or a snack on one of the many picnic tables.
